Packers reduce roster to 53 players and place AJ Dillon on season-ending injured reserve.

The Packers made their last roster cuts on Tuesday afternoon in order to get down to 53 players. One big move means that a key player will miss the 2024 season.

The season of running back AJ Dillon was essentially ended when he was placed on injured reserve without being given the option to return.

Dillon said last week that he was awaiting test results and that he had just had another stinging. While recognizing the gravity of Dillon's injuries, head coach Matt LaFleur emphasized that the team would proceed cautiously with Dillon's circumstances.

Josh Jacobs, the running back, was supposed to have Dillon, 26, as his primary backup. Dillon added 22 receptions for 223 yards and two scores last season in addition to his 613 yards of rushing.

Apart from Dillon's departure, a number of players were waived or released by Green Bay, which included quarterbacks Sean Clifford and Michael Pratt; wide receivers Grant DuBose, Samori Toure, Julian Hicks, Dimitri Stanley, and Jalen Wayne; offensive linemen Royce Newman, Caleb Jones, Luke Tenuta, Lecitus Smith, and Donovan Jennings; defensive ends Deslin Alexandre, Keshawn Banks, Zach Morton, and Brevin Allen; defensive tackles James Ester, Spencer Waege, and Keonte Schad; linebackers Kristian Welch, Christian Young, and Chris Russell; cornerbacks Robert Rochell, Kalen King, and Gemon Green; safeties Anthony Johnson Jr. and Benny Sapp III; and kickers Anders Carlson and Alex Hale round out the list.

This proves that Greg Joseph emerged victorious in the team's kicking contest.

Defense tackle Jonathan Ford, tight end Tyler Davis, and offensive lineman AJ Dillon were all placed on injured reserve; Ford was expected to make a comeback.

Cornerback LJ Davis and linebacker Ralen Goforth were both waived with injury designations.
